Did the Mets accidentally undermine their secretive process to hire a bench coach in the name of social media?
If they did, they let the Twitterverse know of their interest in Jerry Narron before notifying Narron himself.
“I have not heard anything,” Narron told The Post on Tuesday, referring to both the tweet in question and interest from the Mets.
Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen sent out what he clearly intended to be an innocuous tweet on Tuesday — a photo of new manager Carlos Beltran with his old friends (and Van Wagenen’s deputies) Allard Baird and Omar Minaya — only to delete it and resend a tweaked version when a sharp-eyed youngster noticed the inclusion of a binder with Narron’s name in the original tweet.
