Breaking down the relievers the Mets acquired in 2017 sell-off

SAN FRANCISCO — The Mets’ search for treasure from last summer’s veteran sell-off continued Saturday with reliever Eric Hanhold’s arrival as a September call-up.

Overall, the Mets acquired seven minor-league relievers in 2017 from trades that sent Lucas Duda, Addison Reed, Jay Bruce, Neil Walker and Curtis Granderson to playoff contenders.

The 24-year-old Hanhold became the fourth of those acquired relievers promoted to the Mets since last September, joining Jacob Rhame, Gerson Bautista and Drew Smith. At the time of the trades, Mets officials were hopeful two or three of the relievers would develop into major league material, and that goal remains in place a year later.
