Gausman is set to make his first start in a Braves uniform after Atlanta acquired him and Darren O'Day from Baltimore before the non-waiver Trade Deadline. Gausman posted a 4.43 ERA in 21 starts for the Orioles this season.
Now that the Mets have decided not to trade Wheeler, they need him to prove that his midsummer run of success was no fluke. Over his last eight starts, Wheeler is 3-1 with a 2.96 ERA, 52 strikeouts and 16 walks in 51 2/3 innings.
