Brandon Nimmo’s stiff neck lands him on Mets shelf

Brandon Nimmo was concerned his stiff neck would cause him in-game problems.

Now there’s more reason to worry.

The Mets placed their outfielder on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, a day after he was a late scratch from his club’s thrilling, 6-5 walk-off win over the Washington Nationals. Nimmo underwent an MRI on Wednesday, the results of which are unknown yet were enough to keep him out of action.

Longtime major leaguer Rajai Davis was called up in a corresponding move after having started the season with Triple-A Syracuse. Davis was slashing .277/.344/.403 and stole 14 bases in 37 games.
