PORT ST. LUCIE — Brandon Nimmo was so proud of his culinary skills, he took a picture of his dinner and sent it to his wife.
Hours later the Mets outfielder was sick with food poisoning, the result of what he believes was undercooked chicken.
“I cooked it all the way through and it was white,” Nimmo said Thursday upon returning to camp after a one-day absence. “But I didn’t have a meat thermometer, so maybe I ought to invest in one of those, a digital meat thermometer, make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
Nimmo said he lost about 4 pounds after vomiting several times over an 8 ½ hour stretch.
