Bobby Valentine has never been afraid to go against the grain, and now the former Mets manager is staking out one of his most controversial positions yet, saying he thinks performance-enhancing drugs are good for sports.
“Probably, if you want to see the best out of your athlete, and if it’s not harmful to the athlete,” Valentine said last week on SI Now. “You know, the performance-enhancings are weightlifting, they’re nutrition, they’re getting your rest.
“And in 2015 and beyond, there’s also this way of enhancing with a medical form that makes you better. We do in with most everything else in life: Why wouldn’t we do it for sports?
