Bobby Parnell, Mets give one away to the Nationals, 4-3

NATIONALS 4, METS 3

WASHINGTON - The Mets were four outs away from perhaps their biggest win in years. But in a matter of minutes, it all fell apart and instead of coming home on a high and just one game out of the first place, the Mets limp back to Citi Field with a brutal defeat fresh on their minds.

Mets reliever Bobby Parnell allowed three runs in the bottom of the eighth as the Nationals rallied to beat the Mets 4-3 at Nationals Park Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Mets (49-46) drop back to three games behind the Nats (51-42) in the National League East, losing two out of three in the series.
