The Mets dugout will look different in 2016. Bench coach Bob Geren is leaving to take the same job with the Dodgers, Fox Sports reported Wednesday. A Mets team source said that they had been under the impression Geren was leaving for a little while, but had not identified a replacement yet.
Geren, who spent four years working at the side of Mets manager Terry Collins, was a former major league catcher who also spent much of his time helping develop Travis d'Arnaud and, this season, Kevin Plawecki.
An analytical coach who relied heavily on the data provided by the front office, Geren interviewed for the Dodgers' manager job earlier this offseason.
