BOCA RATON, Fla. -- As expected, the Dodgers have interviewed Mets bench coach Bob Geren for their managerial opening, according to an industry source.
But with the process still in its early stages, candidates have yet to be selected for a second round of interviews. The Dodgers are looking for a new manager after the firing of Don Mattingly.
Geren, 54, managed the A's from 2007 to 2011, when he was fired midseason. He posted a 334-376 record with the A's before joining the Mets coaching staff in 2012 under manager Terry Collins.
Geren's strong working knowledge of advanced analytics combined with his big-league experience as a manager could make him a strong fit with the Dodgers.
