After getting hit on the hand by a comebacker during his start against the Padres on Friday, the Mets placed Paul Blackburn on the Injured List, retroactive to August 24th with a right hand contusion. Blackburn, who doesn’t expect to miss more than the required 15-days according to Anthony DiComo, was acquired from the Athletics at the trade deadline, and has a 5.18 ERA in 24.1 innings as a Met.
The Mets will likely call up Tylor Megill to make the two or three starts that Blackburn will miss. With their top pitching prospects not throwing particularly well, and with José Buttó taking to his bullpen role, Megill makes the most sense.
