Dave Eiland doesn’t have a vote for the NL Cy Young Award, but the Mets pitching coach watched Jacob deGrom more closely than anyone in 2018 and made it clear the right-hander should be announced as the winner on Wednesday.
“There’s no doubt in my mind,” Eiland said by phone Tuesday. “I’m not saying that because he’s my pitcher. I’d say the same about anyone else if they had the year Jake had.”
