Baseball’s MVPs and anti-MVPs so far as superstars lead the way

Baseball is better when Mike Trout and Bryce Harper are both great, so 2017 feels better because of it.

This is really about Harper, because Trout has been a metronome of brilliance. Trout never has had less than a Hall-of-Fame season, and this is shaping up as his finest one. Scary thought for the rest of baseball: Trout does not turn 26 until August, and we might not have seen his best yet.

Harper’s durability and consistency are not in the same class as Trout.
