Bartolo Colon’s gem didn’t even need so many Mets homers

Bartolo Colon might not be improving with age, but he isn’t regressing either.

Of course, facing some of the punchless lineups Colon has seen in recent weeks might make even Tom Seaver and Jerry Koosman feel young again.

Colon frustrated the Braves over eight innings in the Mets’ 4-1 victory at Citi Field on Monday and in the process became the second-winningest pitcher from the Dominican Republic. The 42-year-old Colon, who will celebrate another birthday on May 24, won his 220th game to move ahead of Pedro Martinez among Dominican-born pitchers. Only Juan Marichal, with 243 wins, is ahead of Colon.
