The Mets’ winning streak ended, but the weak link still looked plenty strong.
Bartolo Colon snapped out of a two-month malaise with a solid bounce-back start that bodes well for the near future. The struggling veteran gave the Mets every possible opportunity to win before a wasteful lineup and shaky Bobby Parnell flushed it in a 3-2, 10-inning loss to the Pirates before 38,495 at Citi Field.
“In this kind of race, you prepare yourself and you kind of raise your [level] a little bit up,’’ Colon said. “Facing that kind of a lineup always forces you to prepare yourself a little bit more, and make sure you execute the right way without making mistakes, because they’re a tough lineup.
