KANSAS CITY, Mo. — David Wright has been an All-Star, the face of the Mets’ franchise for years and came very close to reaching the 2006 World Series before the Cardinals and Adam Wainright denied him in the final moments of the NLCS.
Sitting in a media session Monday at Kauffman Stadium, the third baseman admitted his team being connected to the hype and hoopla that accompanies the World Series was different.
Tuesday night Wright will play in his first World Series game when the Mets and Royals meet in Game 1.
“It’s pretty surreal. You are preparing like it’s a baseball game,’’ said Wright before the Mets worked out.
