Asdrubal Cabrera getting his second shot at shortstop

PHILADELPHIA — Nobody is more surprised Asdrubal Cabrera is back playing shortstop than Cabrera.

“It’s not easy,” the veteran infielder said Thursday before facing his former team, the Mets, for the first time since his trade to the Phillies on July 27.

Cabrera has become the starting shortstop for a team that is 1 ¹/u2082 games behind the Braves in the NL East. With the Mets, Cabrera was moved from shortstop to second base and then third base midway through the 2017 season. He played exclusively at second this season before the trade.

The Mets dealt Cabrera, who is headed to free agency after this season, for minor league pitcher Franklyn Kilome.
