SEATTLE — A day after the Mets traded one infielder to begin their roster retooling, they welcomed back one and lost yet another to injury.
On the same day their former first baseman Lucas Duda delivered a home run in his first game for the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, Mets infielder T. J. Rivera landed on the disabled list with a partial torn ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow, and second baseman Neil Walker returned after six weeks away with a partially torn left hamstring.
Walker returned to a Mets team in a starkly different position than when he was last with it.
