In a “limited” trade market for relievers, the Mets keep circling back to one name within the organization who can potentially bolster the bullpen.
The big question isn’t about Vic Black’s health or stuff these days as much as his control problems.
“His velocity is up, but he walks too many guys,” said a Pacific Coast League talent evaluator who has watched Black recently for Triple-A Las Vegas.
But as the Mets continue to search for an additional piece to complement Tyler Clippard and Jeurys Familia in the late innings, they may have little choice but to take a chance on the 27-year-old Black, who has spent the entire season trying to regain a job in the Mets bullpen.
