NEW YORK — Nolan Arenado hit two homers Sunday, including a tiebreaking shot in the ninth inning that lifted the St. Louis Cardinals to an 8-7 win over the New York Mets and a rare series win.
Arenado hit a two-run homer in the first inning for the Cardinals, who blew an early 5-1 lead before the third baseman homered off Adam Ottavino (0-3), his former teammate with the Colorado Rockies, with one out in the ninth.
Arenado had his 23rd career multi-homer game on his first Father's Day since his first child, daughter Levi, was born last August.
