There have been lots of signature moments for the Mets this season; Wilmer Flores crying, the Mets sweeping Washington to take first place, Steven Matz making his debut. There was another one Monday — the Mets coming back to beat the Nationals.
This had all the makings of a disaster. Up 3-0 and then in the blink of an eye, down 5-3. It looked like the Mets were going to lose the opener of the biggest series of the year, reducing their lead to a reachable three games in the process.
