Amazin' Mets sweep Cubs for 5th NL pennant

CHICAGO -- For the fourth time in as many games in the National League Championship Series, the Mets tallied first, and they didn't let up, posting an 8-3 victory over the Cubs to complete a sweep and reach the World Series for the first time since 2000. New York will face the winner of the Royals-Blue Jays American League Championship Series, which the Royals lead, 3-2.

Daniel Murphy set a Major League record by homering in his sixth straight postseason game when he hit a two-run shot in the eighth, Lucas Duda drove in five runs, hitting a three-run homer in the first and a two-run double in the second and Travis d'Arnaud also went deep in the first to power the Mets, who won their fifth NL pennant.
