Amazin’ Avenue’s bold predictions for the Mets’ 2025 season

It’s that time of year where our staff try to say some outlandish things about the 2025 Mets that might actually come true. Here are our predictions from 2024 as well as a review of those predictions. Let’s hope we do a bit better this time around.

Allison McCague: Pete Alonso will have a bounce back season and hit the most home runs he’s hit since 2019

On its face, this prediction doesn’t seem that bold. But I think it is bold precisely because all of the indicators point toward Pete Alonso being in his decline phase, which is why he signed for much less than most folks in the industry thought he would—and much less than he wanted.
