The moment Alyssa Rose announced last month she had joined the Mets as the team’s new social media correspondent, she readied herself for backlash. As the daughter of New York’s radio play-by-play whiz Howie Rose, she anticipated the haters to come charging full-force, alleging her bloodline scored her the role of a lifetime. More than 75,000 views of her video announcement later, her social media feed has yet to spontaneously combust.
“What’s been really cool is that there were only two or three people that either tweeted at me like, ‘Must be nice to have Howie Rose as your father,’ or ‘Nepotism at its finest,’ and other people would reply to them and be like, ‘You have no idea what you’re talking about.
