When David Wright has to rest during the regular season, Sandy Alderson said it's unlikely that Neil Walker or Asdrubal Cabrera will slide to that position.
Alderson said he would anticipate Cabrera working at third base during spring training, but the Mets will likely rely on another player to start at third base when Wright rests.
The GM wouldn't name names, but the expectation is that Wilmer Flores, among others, would get a start in Wright's absence. Alderson said that they will also use a lot of younger players at third base during the spring, to see what they have available to them on the expanded roster.
