Alderson: Asdrubal's left thumb in good shape

One day after Asdrubal Cabrera injured his left thumb in Saturday's 11-3 victory over the Marlins, general manager Sandy Alderson appeared on MLB Network Radio and said the Mets shortstop's condition is not as serious as the club initially believed.

X-rays were negative, and Alderson said according to an MRI taken Sunday, Cabrera's UCL ligament between his thumb and forefinger is intact.

NEW YORK -- What was supposed to be a chance for Matt Harvey to move on from his early-season struggles instead morphed into the latest drama involving the Mets right-hander. The team on Sunday suspended Harvey three days without pay for violating club rules, scratching him from his start against the Marlins and recalling left-hander Adam Wilk from Triple-A Las Vegas to take his place.
