Ailing Jed Lowrie, Todd Frazier racing the clock for Mets opener

PORT ST. LUCIE — As much as Jed Lowrie could use the at-bats this Grapefruit League season, his biggest loss might be the chance to integrate with new teammates.

Sidelined since the start of camp with a sprained capsule in his left knee, the Mets infielder — who arrived in the offseason on a two-year contract worth $20 million — is still trying to feel like one of the guys.

“That’s been the hardest part, because you build a lot of trust and bonds with these guys when you are out on the field,” Lowrie said Wednesday.
