Mets C prospect Tomas Nido's trip to the Arizona Fall League ended a year ago without appearing in a game, thanks to an oblique injury suffered during the first day of workouts.
The 23-year-old Nido now will make a return trip this year, after spending the 2017 season with Double-A Binghamton.
Nido, who also represented the organization in the MLB Futures Game this season, will join Binghamton teammates Luis Guillorme, David Thompson and Kevin Kaczmarski with the AFL's Scottsdale Scorpions. The AFL season begins Oct. 10.
"I'm excited to go back there and be healthy and be ready to actually play there," Nido told me.
