A slow death to the season

After almost five hours, the Mets fell to the Phillies in their final meeting of the season, 10-7. Noah Syndergaard struggled in his start and the bullpen was even worse, while the offense left fourteen men on base and went 3-for-16 with RISP. Seven runs is nothing to spit out, but there were ample opportunities to take over this game and cover for the pitching staff.

Things started excellently on both sides of the ball in this one. Noah Syndergaard made short work of the Phillies in the first, striking out one in a perfect inning, before Wilson Ramos and Robinson Cano hit back-to-back home runs with two outs in the bottom half.
