The Mets and Pete Alonso always seemed destined for each other in free agency. Now, with most of the other big ticket first basemen off the market, a reunion between the two seems even more likely, with Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal saying on the Fair Territory podcast that “the entire industry’ believes Alonso re-signs with the Mets.
In 2023, The Mets offered Alonso a seven year, $158 million extension, which he turned down. That contract looks both richer and longer than Alonso is likely to get this year, after a second straight down offensive year.
