Chase d'Arnaud (left) and Ender Inciarte celebrate after scoring the go-ahead runs on a two-run double by Matt Kemp in the 12th inning of the Mets' 3-1 loss on Wednesday night.
It was the logical choice, the obvious choice.
Mets killer Freddie Freeman came up with two out and men on second and third in the 12th inning. No way the Mets wanted any part of him, despite his 0-for-5 collar. So they walked him, loading the bases. Smart.
But Matt Kemp promptly punished loser Rafael Montero for his third double of the game, a drive into the left-field corner that scored two runs and led the Braves to a 3-1 victory over the Mets at Citi Field Wednesday.
