Don’t expect the Mets to break the bank this winter.
As general manager Sandy Alderson considers moves to strengthen a team that won the NL pennant before losing to the Royals in five games in the World Series, he may face financial restrictions.
“Our payroll [this year] started close to $100 million, and I would expect that our payroll going into 2016 would be higher than that,” Alderson said Wednesday at Citi Field, after announcing a new two-year contract for manager Terry Collins.
