Playing primarily shortstop and second base while attending Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School just outside of Philadelphia in Drexel Hill, winning All-Catholic honors and team MVP in 2015. He went undrafted after graduation and enrolled at Cumberland County College in Vineland, New Jersey. His time there was relatively uneventful, except for the fact that, thanks to his live arm and a late growth spurt, he was shifted from the infield and converted into a pitcher.
