Season Record: 33-35 (Florida State League South, 5th place) / 30-40 (Florida State League South, 6th place)
Overall, it was a down year for St. Lucie. In both the first and second halves of the Florida State League season, the team had sub-.500 records. St. Lucie’s pitching was suspect coming into the season, and injuries and ineffectiveness further weakened it. An offense that was already lacking in talent didn’t help matters.
Despite the underwhelming performance, there were a few bright spots over the course of the 2017 season. Peter Alonso established himself as one of the Mets’ top hitting prospects.
