The New York Mets were trying to add a power bat to their lineup at the deadline for the second straight year, and they appear to have their man.
According to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick, the Mets have acquired Jay Bruce from the Cincinnati Reds:

New York nearly acquired Bruce before the deadline last year, but the deal fell through in the final stages, leading the Mets to trade for Yoenis Cespedes.
That nearly happened again this time one of the prospects included in the original deal failed his physical, but the two sides were able to re-work the deal in order to get Bruce to the Big Apple.
Bruce is batting .265 with 25 homers and 80 RBIs in 97 games this season.
