The New York Mets haven't stopped their quest to add a big bat to their lineup despite their deal with Carlos Gomez falling through, and are now very close to acquiring Reds slugger Jay Bruce, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

New York has been trying to add more power to their lineup for weeks, and Bruce would provide them with that.
He's batting .257 with 17 home runs and 59 RBI's in 97 games this season.
