The MLB trade deadline on August 1st is rapidly approaching, and the New York Mets trade rumors are starting to heat up on the hot stove. The Mets are 53-48, but are two games back of Wild Card spot. The Mets might not make many major moves, but could complete a deal or two. With that in mind, here are the latest Mets trade rumors.
Mets And Brewers Talking Lucroy Trade
The Mets and Brewers had been linked to trade talks centered on catcher Jonathan Lucroy in the past and it appears the two sides have started talking again.
Sources: #Brewers re-engaged #Mets today on Lucroy. Discussions continuing. No indication that deal is close.

The Mets' original trade proposal of catcher Travis d'Arnaud straight up for Lucroy was shot down by Milwaukee. The Mets would need to give up at least one prospect and the injury-prone d'Arnaud to land Lucroy.
Mets' Bullpen Search
The Mets aren't likely pull off a major deal, per the New York Post, but adding another bullpen piece is an option. That's something that's been reported in the past and it was mentioned again by Jon Heyman. He writes "the Mets have looked into former Met Joe Smith among many, many other relievers." Smith currently plays for the Angels and was drafted by the Mets in the 2006 MLB Draft. The righty has posted a 4.08 ERA this year, the highest mark in his career.
