The New York Mets took Game One of the NLCS, defeating the Chicago Cubs 4-2 behind a strong start from Matt Harvey.
Harvey went 7.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out nine batters.
Jeurys Familia picked up the four-out save. He didn't allow a run, but did allow a hit and a walk.
Jon Lester was solid for the Cubs, giving up four earned runs, on 8 hits and one walk in 6.2 innings. He struck out five batters, but Lester wasn't good enough to shut down the Mets.
The Mets struck first, on a David Murphy solo shot in the first inning. The Cubs tied the game in the 5th on a Starlin Castro double. The Mets took the lead back for good in the bottom frame of that same inning, thanks to Curtis Granderson single. The Mets added insurance runs on a Travis d'Arnaud homer in the sixth and a Granderson sacrifice fly in the seventh. The Cubs picked up a run in the 8th on a Kyle Schwarber, but it wasn't enough.
Game 2 of NLCS is set for Sunday, with Jake Arrieta the probable pitcher for the Cubs and Noah Syndergaard set to take the mound for the Mets.
