Mets Rumors: New York a favorite to sign Korean SS Jung-Ho Kang?

Korean shortstop Jung-Ho Kang will be posted on Monday by the Korean Baseball Organization, according to a FoxSports.com report, and is likely to draw interest from several teams including the New York Mets.

Kang, 27, is a middle infielder with major pop his in his bat who has spent the last seven seasons playing for the Nexen Heroes of the KBO. He had a career year in 2014, hitting .354 with 39 home runs, 115 RBIs while posting a 1.189 OPS in 116 games for the Heroes.

While the open market for shortstops is currently thin right now, the word around Major League Baseball is that Kang projects as a second baseman at the MLB level. CBS Sports reported Monday that the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's join the New York Mets in having legitimate interest in the Korean infielder.

The Mets' need for middle-infield help is no secret, so don't be surprised if New York puts in a substantial bid in hopes of bringing Kang to New York for his first taste of Major League Baseball.
