A cult hero among many NBA fans, Jimmer Fredette's latest stop on his NBA odyssey brings him to the New York Knicks on a ten-day contract.
You better believe that Knicks fans have taken notice. During a particularly listless outing for the home team in an embarrassing 122-95 home loss to the Toronto Raptors, fans at Madison Square Garden showered the teams with chants of "We Want Jimmer!" all night long.
They didn't get their wish until the game was completely out of hand with two minutes left, but he did make sure they got their money's worth by hitting a long-distance bomb on his first shot in a Knicks uniform:
Picked 10th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2011 NBA Draft and subsequently traded to the Sacramento Kings, Fredette has struggled to acclimate to the NBA after a record-shattering run at BYU.
Fredette has played parts of five seasons with the Kings, Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans, and now the Knicks.
He was originally selected by the Knicks' D-League affiliate in Westchester with the 2nd overall pick of the 2015 NBA Developmental Draft. He would eventually go on to New Orleans for a cup of coffee starting this past November 10th, but was reacquired by Westchester after being waived following a nine-day stint with the Pelicans.
