Will European voters make Kristaps Porzingis an All-Star?

SALT LAKE CITY — Kristaps Porzingis will be in Toronto on All-Star weekend in February regardless, participating in a new version of the Rookie-Sophomore Game.

Whether the Knicks’ 7-foot-3 phenom gets to play in the main event will depend on how “Kristaps Krazy’’ fans act in Europe, specifically Latvia and Spain, when NBA All-Star ballots will be released Thursday. According to an NBA source, online voting commences Thursday at noon.

If Latvian fans follow the same script as last winter, Porzingis could have a fighting chance to be one of the top vote-getters among forwards. Because of a frenzy of ballot-stuffing in the small, hockey-mad Baltic country, Buffalo Sabres right wing Zemgus Girgenson of Latvia received the most votes of any player despite finishing fourth on his own team in scoring.
