Why Rambis’ T’wolves failure can’t be blamed on triangle

Sports

Kurt Rambis went 32-132 over two seasons as the head coach of the Timberwolves.

MINNEAPOLIS — Contrary to popular belief, Knicks interim coach Kurt Rambis didn’t run the triangle offense much during his failed stint as Timberwolves head man.

Knicks president Phil Jackson’s disciple compiled a 32-132 record in two seasons from 2009 to 2011. Rambis made his return Saturday night with the teetering Knicks at Target Center.

Part of the reason for the triangle snub was Rambis didn’t have the point guard he wanted. Ricky Rubio — the Wolves’ 2009 draft pick — decided to stay in Spain during the Rambis run.
