Phil Jackson kept his distance from the media during the Knicks’ six-day stay at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point that ended Saturday. Mostly, he stayed away from the players, too.
Jackson opened the initial Monday night dinner with a quick talk, but kept quiet on the Christl Arena sidelines. If Jackson is to be more hands-on with players, that hasn’t materialized yet.
The 70-year-old Zen Master promised more involvement with the coaching staff than during coach Derek Fisher’s disastrous 17-65 rookie campaign, but that occurred privately at West Point’s Hotel Thayer.
“He’s at practice every day, sits on the side 99 percent of the time,’’ Fisher said before leaving West Point on Saturday.
