The Knicks fired head coach David Fizdale on Friday afternoon, sending assistant coach Keith Smart out the door with him.
The day after a second straight blowout loss — the Knicks were decimated by the Bucks on Monday and the Nuggets on Thursday — Knicks brass inexplicably waited until after Fizdale ran Friday’s practice and met with media. He was asked about his weeks-long place on the coaching hot seat.
“I don’t think about that stuff,” Fizdale said after practice. “I don’t think about it at all. I go into – every day is I come in here, I see 17 guys that I’ve got to make better and I see a team in Indiana that we’ve got to try to go out and beat.
