With Carmelo Anthony on the frontier, Jeff Hornacek is looking at an empty canvas, facing three openings in the starting lineup. And he hardly sounded worried about filling Anthony’s void at small forward.
In fact, Hornacek couldn’t have sounded less sentimental that Anthony is no longer a Knick, shipped to Oklahoma City on Saturday. Courtney Lee, last season’s starting shooting guard, appears the leading candidate to replace Anthony as starting 3.
“You’ve been around the NBA a long time, trades happen,’’ Hornacek said Tuesday. “I’ve been a part of trades. It’s always tough. Doug [McDermott] and Enes [Kanter] now have one day to come here and get ready for training camp.
