Compared to the previous three expansion teams— Erie BayHawks, Reno Bighorns and Maine Red Claws— the Westchester Knicks didn’t have a stellar inaugural season in the NBA D-League.
Those three teams managed to win at least 25 games in their first season in the D-League. The BayHawks (27 wins) and Bighorns (25 wins) accomplished that during the 2008-09 season, and the Red Claws (27 wins) narrowly missed the playoffs in their inaugural season.
Even though Westchester didn’t have success like Erie, Reno, or Maine during their first season in the D-League, the Knicks saw progress in their second season.
