In a fairly shocking move, the Knicks have released Mindaugas Kuzminskas in order to clear a roster spot for Joakim Noah.
Noah, who just finished serving a 20-game sentence for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance, needed to be added to the Knicks’ roster by 5:00 PM Sunday. But why Kuz instead of, say, Ramon Sessions?
One factor in decision to waive Kuzminskas over Ramon Sessions, as reported by @wojespn, was due to the recent injury history of Jarrett Jack, per sources. The Knicks have to eat around $3 million to waive Kuzminskas— about 700K more than they would have if they waived Sessions.
