The Knicks have become a symbol of stability in the NBA

On February 4, 2020, Steve Mills was fired as the general manager of the 15-36 New York Knicks.

This represented a full house cleaning after David Fizdale was fired in November. The Knicks would be entering the following season with new faces across the board.

This wasn’t a new experience for them. Mike Miller, who coached the final 44 games of the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season, was the 12th head coach for the Knicks since Jeff Van Gundy unexpectedly resigned in December 2001.

Over the next 17 years, the Knicks cycled through coach after coach and scandal after scandal.
