There were several compelling storylines surrounding the Knicks into summer league, but none were more intriguing than the return of Lithuanian Euro-stash Rokas Jokubaitis.
The first news we heard of Rokas’ status was that he was interested in joining the team that held his draft rights in some capacity. Some thought he was looking to push for a rotation spot in the regular season, but summer league felt more likely. But not so fast.
Summer League ended July 22 (if you made the final). The Olympics begin on the 26th. Jokubaitis played a prominent role for the Lithuanian team in the 2023 FIBA World Cup and was going to try to get his team into the Olympics at qualifiers in early July.
