LAS VEGAS — If on-the-block Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is traded before the season starts, the Knicks will not be a good match assets-wise.
With Saturday’s moratorium to make their six free-agent signings official, the Knicks will no longer have the cap space to absorb Westbrook’s supermax contract, which has him slated to make $37.5 million next season.
The Knicks, who lack a superstar, have just $4 million in cap room.
However, by Dec. 15, the Knicks will have a trove of trade desirables — expiring contracts and other future first-rounders.
