Rookies Trier and Robinson dominate as Knicks whip Mavericks

Modal Trigger

Allonzo Trier, who scored 23 points, drives on Dennis Smith Jr. during the Knicks' 118-106 victory Friday night.

DALLAS — Rick Carlisle, the Mavericks’ esteemed coach, called the young Knicks “relentless’’ and “extremely dangerous’’ before the teams faced each other Friday night.

For one night, David Fizdale’s Knicks were all that on the road, posting their first victory away from the Garden with a 118-106 win at American Airlines Center.

Two rookies led the Knicks (3-6). Center Mitchell Robinson, whose permanent starting status appeared cemented before the game after high defensive praise from Fizdale, was a high-flying force on both ends, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 34 minutes for his first double-double.
